Individual Therapy

Carlisle House offers Individual Counselling as an integral component of the Residential Therapeutic Treatment Programme. Individual Counselling provides the opportunity to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more resourcefully towards greater well being.

We define counselling as an activity where a qualified and professionally supported person engages with another person, through a purposeful and professional relationship. A Counsellor may use one or more theoretically and evidence based models with a view to supporting and enabling the engaged person to cope better with their unique life problem.

The aim will be to co-create the conditions whereby the person can live more effectively, and achieve a higher level of functioning and quality of well-being.

Furthermore counselling is viewed to take place within a framework of an agreed contract. This contract will agree the issues for which counselling has been requested and take place within one hour sessions and in a specific setting. We offer a mximum of 12 sessions.

Counselling is not the giving of advice, guidance or befriending

We adhere to the counselling standards set out in The Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, British Association of Counsellors and Therapists
